Prasiolite is a trade name given to a naturally occurring green variety of Quartz. Its colouration due to a balance of ferrous iron and iron hydrate impurities, temperature and pressure during crystallisation.
Prasiolite has been found as a combination of Amethyst and green Quartz within the same crystal. Prasiolite is rare in its natural form.
